A North Adams man died Thursday afternoon in a work site accident on the Mass. Pike, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office.

On Thursday afternoon, police officials stated that troopers from the Massachusetts State Police in Westfield were investigating a fatal injury suffered by a road worker on a construction site in Becket. That accident closed down all lanes heading westbound on I-90 from the 17.2 mile marker. The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m., according to officials.

According to a release from the Berkshire County DA's office, the victim was identified as 26-year-old Brian Simard.

No further details are being released as the investigation is ongoing.

The investigation is being conducted by state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the state police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, the Crime Scene Service Section of the state police, state troopers assigned to the Westfield barracks, Mass DOT and members of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
