If you are willing to hop in the car and travel a couple of hours, you will have the opportunity to head to the first ax-throwing bar in the state this summer.

According to BizBash, Urban Axes, a popular, and growing, chain based out of Philadelphia, Penn. is opening up a location in Somerville. In the "10 Most Anticipated Boston Venues For Meetings and Events" article for 2018, BizBash says that the unique spot will host walk-ins, group events, private parties and, yes, corporate outings.

"Participants throw 1.5-pound hatchets at wooden targets marked with a bullseye and score points, similar to a game of darts," says BizBash. "The space will feature multiple ax-throwing areas with a maximum capacity of about 80 to 100 people. In addition, the space will also have a full bar."

Why wouldn't there be a full bar when there is ax-throwing to be done? In all seriousness, all tournaments and ax-throwing games at Urban Axes will include a class taught by one of their house experts, or "axeberts", for obvious safety reasons. The location will be in the thriving Union Square in Somerville.
