A Sheffield man who has been missing for a week was found dead in the Housatonic River in Connecticut.

German Perez, 60, was reported missing following a phone call to our sister station WSBS in Great Barrington by his son Carlos on Sept. 25. Perez was reportedly driving home from his job at Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT.

After law enforcement searched the river for some time last Tuesday night, they suspended it until the following day due to debris and muddy waters hampering the search. Last Wednesday afternoon, crews were able to locate the submerged vehicle -- a 2000 black Toyota Tundra.

The search continued for several days before the Connecticut State Police Dive team located the body about a mile south of where the truck crashed on Route 44. According to police, positive identification was made and his next of kin was notified.

Our condolences go out to the friends and family of German Perez during this sad and difficult time.
