‘DWI Guy’ Tom Anelli Arrested for DWAI

You have seen, or heard, his commercials throughout Berkshire County. On Friday night, the "DWI Guy" was arrested for DWAI.

According to the New York State Police, lawyer Tom Anelli was arrested for driving while ability impaired on Friday night. At approximately 9:25 p.m., NY State Police troopers responded to a disturbance in Liverpool, NY. A woman, who is believed to be the girlfriend of Anelli, told police she had been arguing with Anelli and was dropped off in the location.

Anelli would return to the scene moments later and the troopers smelled alcohol on his breath as well as noticing signs he was impaired. After refusing a field sobriety test, Anelli was arrested. Anelli blew below the legal limit on a blood alcohol test, according to police, at .06 BAC.

The lawyer was released and is due back in court on Oct. 2. DWAI is considered a traffic violation and not a misdemeanor or felony offense.
