Tomorrow's (June 21) Third Thursday celebration in downtown Pittsfield will be "health" themed. As usual, North St. will be closed from West St. to Linden St. between 5 PM and 8 PM for family friendly activities, dancing, music, food, and much more.

The Green Mile Road Race is a mad dash to see how fast, or if you can, run one mile. The race starts at 5:30 PM at Park Square. Race proceeds will benefit Operation Copsicle, a Pittsfield Police Department initiative to buy an ice cream truck and distribute free ice cream to neighborhoods across Pittsfield.

With all that is currently happening at the southern U.S. border, immigration has been quite the topic for discussion. Here at home, The Berkshire Immigrant Center is looking to raise $10,000 to help with legal aid.

In support of Immigrant Heritage Month, The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts will remain open for its Berkshire Immigrant Stories exhibit.

Third Thursday offers so much for us to enjoy during these warm days, and with this month’s theme of health, there are even more opportunities to get active and have fun.  For those of you who are participating in the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge, there are plenty of activities to increase your points; it’s a true win-win for all.  I encourage everyone to come out, have a good time, and celebrate some of Pittsfield’s finest offerings. -Mayor Tyer
