You may have seen the new 3D photo feature popping up on Facebook, which is a super cool way to view pictures in a 3 Dimensional kind of way. It gives portraits a cool look to share with family and friends.  By dragging a mouse or tilting their phone, they can check out your photo as if they're in it.  But before you get to share the cool new pics, you need to enable the app to do so.

First things first, you need an iPhone that has duel cameras, i.e. iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, XS Max or iPhone XR.  Other cell phones that also have dual cameras, include Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and LG V35 ThinQ, however Facebook said support is not yet available for those devices.

Second, you cannot actually take 3D photos yet, what you're actually doing is converting a current photo into a 3D one.  However, those photos have to be images captured in Portrait Mode on your camera. All your portrait mode are in their own folder in your Pictures.

So if you have those two stipulations covered, you're ready to go.

  1. Open the Facebook app on your iPhone, search 'Facebook 360' and like the page.
  2. Force closed the Facebook and then reboot it
  3. Start a new post and scroll down to select the 3D Photo Icon
  4. Facebook will automatically open your Portraits folder where you can pick the image to post.

It's that simple to have a cool new way to share photos with your friends. Here's an example of what they look like with my buddy Cim and my pup Bam Bam
