As if qualifying for the Masters tournament wasn't enough of a dream come true, Matt Parziale, a full-time firefighter in Brockton, got to play a practice round with two legends of the sport on Wednesday; Fred Couples and Tiger Woods.

The nine-hole round with the 30-year-old local hero left Woods really enjoying himself.

“Matt played great today and we really had a lot of fun," Woods said via the Tiger Tracker Twitter account. "He’s a terrific kid and we had a really good time. I had a nice time with his dad, too. He told some great stories about the fire department and things that he’s done.’’

Parziale's dad serves as his caddy, which must be a surreal experience for both men. With the tournament kicking off on Thursday morning, and the "anything can happen" moniker the Masters presents, win or lose, one of the greatest golfers ever was impressed with the local amateur.

“The fact that Matt puts his life on the line every day for others, and then does this is amazing,’’ said Woods. “I’m really impressed by his game. He’s a very good player.’’

Parziale won the US Mid-Amateur Championship last October in Atlanta to qualify for the tournament.
