The search for a new Gerber baby to take the reins in 2019 is officially under way. Could your baby be the next?

Gerber announced that their ninth annual photo search kicked off on the first of this month and will run until Oct. 20, providing parents the opportunity to see their little one to become the company's spokesbaby for 2019.

Currently holding the title is 2018 Gerber baby, Lucas Warren, the first spokesbaby with Down syndrome.  Lucas won the job over the 140,000 other baby's to submit last year.

A statement from the company said that Lucas will be an honorary judge on this year's panel, helping to select his successor.

Think your little nugget is cute enough to take the spot? Until the 20th of this month, parents or legal guardians of children from birth to four years old are encouraged to post a favorite, recent photo of their little one on Instagram using #GerberPhotoSearch2018 for a chance to have their child serve as an adorable ambassador for the brand. Make sure your Instagram account is public, so your photo can be viewed on that hashtag. If your baby is the lucky winner, he or she will be featured on Gerber’s social media channels and the family will win the ultimate grand prize of $50,000. Official contest rules can be found here.

If you're wondering what exactly judges are looking for, Gerber president and CEO Bill Partyka says, "...we choose the baby who exemplifies Gerber’s long-standing heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby" and went on to say that Lucas was chosen "because of his expressiveness and his contagious smile."
