Lanesborough Ice Fishing Derby

On Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, The Lanesborough Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the annual fishing derby on Pontoosuc Lake.

Those interested in participating can register beginning at 6 a.m. at the park on Narragansett Ave. Ice fishing goes till 2 p.m.

Adults are $10.00 and children 12 and under are free.

Prizes are awarded for the largest fish in three categories, Pike, Bass, and Pickerel. Top prize in each is $100. Trophies will be awarded to children and you can enjoy raffles as well.

We had about 220 people register last year, up from 165 the year before that. The annual derby has become pretty popular since it's initiation about six years ago. - Chief Durfee

All money raised goes toward building maintenance for the Lanesborough Volunteer Fire Department.
