Less than 24 hours after an attack and stabbing took the life of 34 year old Will Catalano, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office a man has been charged in relation to the case.

Catalano's death remains under investigation, but early on the in the investigation police determined the stabbing was the result of some kind of altercation involving multiple people

Shane Smith, 34 of Pittsfield appeared before Judge Mark Pasquariello, and was charged with one count of providing misleading information in relation to the investigation. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $3,000 bail.  He will be back in Court for a pre-trial hearing on November 15, 2018.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department with assistance from State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Forensic Scientists from the Crime Laboratory and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department.
