While the law enforcement Lip Sync Challenge has been an incredible viral trend over the last few weeks, the Dartmouth, MA Police Department decided to take their effort in a different direction.

On Sunday, a horrible tragedy struck when Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna, along with 77-year-old Vera Adams, was shot multiple times and killed by 20-year-old Emanuel Lopes. Police departments across the country have been paying tribute to their fallen comrade by changing profile photos and creating heartfelt posts in honor of Sgt. Chesna.

Like many law enforcement agencies and departments, the Dartmouth Police Department had been challenged to participate in the viral Lip Sync Challenge. That was the original plan for the Dartmouth PD, but after the tragedy, they decided to call a heartfelt audible.

"A week ago we were producing a fun video with our friends over at Dartmouth Community Television in an effort to answer the numerous challenges issued to us in association with the Lip Sync Challenge," Dartmouth PD officials stated.

"With the recent and tragic loss of our comrade, Officer Michael Chesna, we decided that instead of answering the lip sync challenge, we would redirect our efforts to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving their respective communities."

And honor them they did. Check out this amazing tribute video below.
