The New York State Police have confirmed the arrest of three individuals on drug charges; two of them were from Pittsfield.

According to a press release from the department, NY State Police stopped a vehicle Thursday night at approximately 8:45 p.m. on I-87 in Ardsley for vehicle and traffic violations. After interviewing the driver of the vehicle, the officer had probable cause to search the car and the passengers inside of it.

During the search of the vehicle, passengers Krista Chadwell, 31, and 30-year-old Jerome Grandson -- both from Pittsfield -- "approximately 13 grams of cocaine, approximately 11.6 grams of heroin and 8 grams of marijuana were located," says the release. That wasn't all that was found.

"Also, located during the search were several items of drug paraphernalia which included a spoon, glass smoking pipe, and several hypodermic needles, along with multiple wax envelopes," the release states.

Chadwell, Grandson and the driver, Ralph Moody of Ancram, NY, were all taken into custody and subsequently faced a number of charges. Grandson was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, one charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree for a controlled substance narcotic drug, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree; all felonies.

He is also being charged, along with Chadwell, with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and misdemeanor charges for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Possession of Hypodermic Instrument.

All three were arraigned in the village of Ardsley Court. Chadwell was remanded to the Westchester County Jail and bail was set at $10,000 cash, or $15,000 bond. while Grandson had the stiffest setting of bail of the three -- $25,000 cash, or $50,000 bond.

They will return to court on Monday.
