UPDATE:

The Berkshire Eagle has reported than a second victim has lost their life after the overnight blaze. The outlet reports that when firefighters responded they found an elderly man and woman on the first floor of the home. The woman died on scene, and her husband died a short time later at Berkshire Medical Center, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.

According to city records, the home is owned by Raymond and Beverly Kinsella.

 

 

According to WGBR CBS 6 Albany, Pittsfield Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Sammons confirms that one person has died in an early morning house fire in the city.

Fire crews were dispatched to 71 Bryan Street, off of Crane Avenue, at about 4:15 am.  No other information is available at this time and will we continue to update the story as we know more.

A second person was taken to Berkshire Medical Center. One animal died inside the home.

Firefighters are unsure of the cause of the fire, or if the home is a total loss. The Massachusetts State Fire Marshal is investigating.
