Every Wednesday morning, at around 8:30 a.m., our friends at the Berkshire Humane Society join the Slater & Marjo in the Morning radio program to talk about everything going on at the shelter.

One of the topics of discussion is the "Pet of the Week". This month is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and with that comes $50 adoptions for these amazing animals.

This week's "Pet of the Week" is Maxine, an 8-year-old Terrier/Jack Russell mix.

"I am super sweet and social. I came to the shelter when my owners could not care for me properly," Maxine says in her bio at the Berkshire Humane Society website. "I am partially house trained and with a little time, effort and patience, I could be fully trained. I came in with Macho and Maddie, other senior Jack Russell mixes, so I may do well with other dogs. We did have some squabbles over food, so separate feeding areas are a must.

"I cat tested okay, so a home with cats can be considered. I will need to be leash walked as I can jump a four-foot fence. I enjoy going for long leisurely walks, then chilling out and cuddling on the couch. Please come see me and I will win you over. I love to show my belly and get belly rubs!"
