The New York State Police have confirmed the arrest of two men on felony drug charges; one of those men is from Pittsfield.

NY State Police's Livingston barracks arrested 28-year-old Darell Robinson Jr. of Pittsfield and 44-year-old Clifford Fields of New Lebanon, NY in the early morning hours of July 3. The men were pulled over on the Taconic Parkway and the officers found discovery to search the vehicle and its patrons.

"On July 3, 2018, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2013 Honda Accord on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Taghkanic for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law," said State Police officials.  "While interviewing the occupants a strong odor of marijuana was detected.  Investigation discovered approximately 1.7 grams of marijuana, and over 56 grams of crack-cocaine."

Both men were both charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, while Robinson picked up an additional charge of Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Robinson and Fields were arraigned before the town of Livingston Court, and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond. They will head back to court on July 19.
