For the second time in a year, Route 9 has been the location of a fatal car crash.

On Tuesday evening, a Pittsfield man, James Kerr, 51, died from his injuries stemming from a head on collision with another vehicle.

Around 6:20 pm, Kerr's 2016 Chrysler sedan crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2014 Dodge truck.

Members of Dalton's rescue crew had extricated Kerr from the vehicle and then transported him to BMC, where he was pronounced dead, according to The Berkshire Eagle.

Jim was a caring, big-hearted, and hard-working man that always put his family first. He was a loving husband and father to four sons who looked up to him, and you can't forget about Niko the lab. He loved to go for long rides, and take Niko on walks in Lenox. One of his favorite places to visit was the book store and loved to take his wife Tammie to the Panda house for sushi.  -Friends of the family

Back on April 27 of last year, Daron Reynolds, a popular DJ in Pittsfield, died in a car crash on Route 9.
