Pittsfield Police Officers are mourning the loss of a veteran officer, their beloved K9 Ciro, a member of the force from 2006 until the end of last year.

In an announce via their Facebook Page, Officers recognized the 11 years of dedication to the department, citing a distinguished career, which ended in his retirement last year after his handler Officer Losaw, was promoted to the rank of Detective.

K9 Ciro was laid to rest today at noon, after succumbing to an aggressive form of stomach cancer. The Pittsfield Police K9 Unit was joined by other K9 divisons and officers from throughout Berkshire County in honoring K9 Ciro as he was escorted into the Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital by Detective Losaw.

According to the post, K9 Ciro loved the water and yesterday, Detective Losaw and his family took Ciro to the lake for his last swim.
