Slater and Marjo had chance to chat with Officer Derby from the Pittsfield Police Department about Tuesday's recruiting exposition at Taconic High School on Valentine Rd. in Pittsfield.

If you're considering a career in law enforcement, please join us at the police recruitment expo, Jan. 8 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. You'll be able to speak with officers who have just recently graduated from the academy as well as officers with twenty plus years of service. There will be a large variety of specialized units who will be able to answer questions ranging from educational incentives, to academy life, to the civil service test process, to lateral transfers. Participants can also enjoy a static display of vehicles and equipment used by the police department. - Officer Darren Derby

On March 23, 2019, people interested becoming police officers can take the civil service exam. The last test was in 2017, as this year's was the civil service exam for those interested in becoming firefighters. Tests rotate every other year.
