There's nothing more near and dear to my heart, or stomach, than Italian food.  When it's done right, it simply cannot be beat.  I've tried Italian food from all over the world, and I'm happy to say some of the best really is right here in Massachusetts, and we're not just talking about the North End.

At the heart of every good Italian menu is always delicious homemade pasta.  A list came out naming the Top Ten Restaurants in Massachusetts That Serve Pasta To Die For, and while I'm proud to say that I've eaten at seven of these eateries (go ahead and judge) I'm even happier to report that two are located right here in beautiful Berkshire County. Bonus: a few of them are a short drive from The Berkshires as well.

Elizabeth's - Pittsfield

Elizabeth's is a tiny, cozy restaurant housed inside a nondescript blue building that looks more like your aunt's house than a fabulous dining destination. However, this place serves some of the most amazing pasta in the Berkshires. While the cuisine leans towards the Italian side of things, they also add in a bit of French and Caribbean flavor for good measure. Try the rigatoni with pulled pork and sausage, or the gorgonzola stuffed shells.

Frankie’s Ristorante - Lenox

Frankie’s Ristorante Italiano serves up house-made Italian meals in an atmosphere that is all about family. The service is old-fashioned and attentive while the menu is filled with modern twists on classic dishes. Try the penne vodka in Frankie’s house sauce or indulge in a starter of butternut squash ravioli.
