A woman who currently remains unidentified was left with life threatening injuries after being struck by a train in North Adams yesterday evening.

A report from iBerkshires.com confirms that shortly before 6 p.m. the woman and two other people were crossing the trestle bridge portion of the tracks near American Legion Drive in front of an oncoming train when she was hit. The other two managed to cross safely, but the woman was taken to Berkshire Medical Center.

That portion of the tracks goes over the Hoosic River and connects the eastern and western banks the Hadley Overpass to Western Gateway Heritage State Park.

According to the investigation the train conductor blew the whistle numerous times to signal danger to the group.
