According to Wikipedia, Choate Bridge located in Ipswich, Massachusetts (about 30 miles North of Boston) is a stone arch bridge built in 1764 carrying Route 1A/Route 133 over the Ipswich River. It is considered one of the oldest surviving bridges in North America and is more than likely the oldest in Massachusetts.
Great news for residents throughout Massachusetts! I know I'm often guilty of overusing the phrase "great news", but trust me, this time it's justified.
According to mixbook.com, Stockbridge Massachusetts located here in the Berkshires home to to the Norman Rockwell Museum, Tanglewood, Naumkeag, The Berkshire Theatre Group, Chesterwood, Berkshire Botanical Garden, & Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas. This town basically becomes a living postcard during the holiday season, reflecting a timeless beauty. The main street, which resembles Rockwell's famous painting, is festooned with festive decorations and lights, evoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth.
Massachusetts has some extremely old towns and cities throughout the state. Like, really, really, really old. That being said, America just happened to celebrate a birthday about three months ago on July 4th. In fact, it was America's 248th birthday. But did you know that a town in Massachusetts is way older than that? By way older, we mean, more than a century older. And even beyond that, it's more than 150 years older than America.
