I remember being a bright-eyed, young child; my parents telling me to write out my Christmas list, which got longer, more expensive and dare I say, more creative as time went on. My wonderful parents in their infinite wisdom would send along my letter and list along to the North Pole as the waiting game began on Santa Claus to come through.

There was one thing I always wondered with the letter sending process - How come I never got any confirmation that this letter was received? In the midst of the Christmas excitement, that was somehow on my mind. Now, there is an answer to that question and you can help your kids make it happen. It just needs to happen very quickly.

If children can send out their letters to Santa Claus to arrive before Dec. 15, which is this Friday, the Jolly Red Man will respond.

Here is how you can get it done, if you can do it in the next day, or two.

The United States Postal Service provides additional tips to help you out.

  • 1

Have Your Child Write Santa a Letter

There is still time for your children to write the letter to ensure it gets to Santa Claus. Have them write the letter, and add their list if they'd like. Then, have them place that into an envelope addressed to "Santa Claus, North Pole."

  • 2

    Create the Response

This is where you come in wonderful parents of The Berkshires. You will need to write a personalized response to your child and at the end of the response letter, sign it "From Santa."

  • 3

Get the Letters in an Envelope

At this point, you will take both letters that were written and put them into a new envelope. This time, you will address it to your child, or children.

Add the return address to the envelope, which is "Santa, North Pole".

    First-Class All The Way

That's right, First-Class. Just in postal terms. Make sure that a First-Class Mail stamp is affixed to the envelope. I'll assume this is part of it for the quicker speed it will take to get where it needs to go.

    Send The Letter Out

It is now time to put all of that work into motion. Place the complete envelope into a larger envelope, with appropriate postage, and address it to:
    NORTH POLE POSTMARK POSTMASTER
    4141 POSTMARK DR
    ANCHORAGE AK 99530-9998

Again, make sure it gets there by Friday, Dec. 15. Time is running out Berkshire County. But, there is still time if you want to make this happen.
