Each "Third Thursday" celebration in Downtown Pittsfield has a theme, and September's for the last seven years has been the international march to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.

On Thursday, September 20, the 8th Annual "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" will once again take place at 6 PM in Downtown Pittsfield. The march pledges that "together we can make our homes and streets safe for all".

Participants are encouraged to walk one mile in women's shoes, although it is not required. The point of "Walk A Mile" is come out in and support (raise money) for The Elizabeth Freeman Center who "provides leadership and services to address domestic and sexual violence in Berkshire County".

This is a fun and lighthearted way to create awareness, fundraise, and stop the violence. To register, visit elizabethfreemancenter.org/wam, or call 413 499 2425. Walkers who raise at least $55 get a free tee shirt.
