According to the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office, a 19-year-old Washington town employee sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries in a workplace accident Tuesday afternoon.

The unidentified employee was operating a blacktop roller which tumbled down a bank and into a shallow body of water, trapping the 19-year-old underneath. First responders freed the victim and they were airlifted to the hospital.

Massachusetts State Police Berkshire Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services, and Crime Scene Services Section as well as the Department of Environmental Protection, and OSHA were called to assist local first responders at the scene.
