Eight Pets that Are Extremely Illegal to Keep as Pets in Massachusetts
There are tons of weird laws in Massachusetts pertaining to everything from exploding golf balls to when you're allowed to take a bath. Many of them are out of date and have just never been revisited because, well, lawmakers are busy doing other things.
In addition to weird laws, there are also some regulations regarding what animals residents are allowed to own. In fact, rules about pet ownership in Massachusetts are some of the strictest in the county, according to the Mass.gov website. There are laws forbidding the ownership of animals that could cause a threat to the public, the obvious, lions, tigers, and bears (yes, too easy) but there are some less obvious animals on there that might surprise you.
There are also a few rare animals that you're allowed to own as pets in Massachusetts, but only if you have a permit to do so.
