Every Wednesday at 8:30 we're joined by John Perreault, Executive Director of the Berkshire Humane Society to discuss all the happenings at their Barker Road facility, plus talk about their Pet of the Week.

This week's Pet of the Week is Fern. Don’t let this innocent face fool you, this girl will keep you on your toes. Fern is beautiful a 8-month-old hound mix, and in true hound fashion, her activity level is on point.

Fern is an extremely sweet girl who just needs to learn boundaries; so, she’ll need an adult-only home where her adopter(s) understand the needs of hound personalities. She’s in her adolescent stage right now, which tends to be the “challenging” part of young dog behavior. She tends to get overstimulated and mouth, so redirection with toys, treats, and training is crucial.

Fern loves playtime with other dogs here and would enjoy a dog companion as well as a yard where she can zoom about. She has social walks with shelter dog Kenali and playdates with Boba the Boxer.

Fern has been crate trained at Berkshire Humane and does well with it for housebreaking, so she’ll need to continue that task in her future home. If you like to hike, run, or the like, she may just be the perfect dog for you!

If you have questions or are interested in meeting this doe-eyed girl, please reach out to the Berkshire Humane Kennel staff for more information at (413)-447-7878 ext. 126
