Pittsfield Won’t Have 4th of July Fireworks This Year but Here’s Where You Can See Them Instead

The 4th of July is coming up this weekend, and the celebrations are extra special this year due to the fact that it's America's 250th birthday. While it's tempting to partake in the festivities by lighting off your own fireworks, you have to remember that the act is both dangerous and illegal in Massachusetts.

In case you're new to the area or just don't know, it's against the law to use, purchase, possess, or sell fireworks in Massachusetts. For example, if you are lighting off fireworks in your backyard, that's technically illegal. If caught in the act, you could face a fine of $100 to $1000 and may even have to face prison time. Is it worth the risk?

You have options. If you want to view fireworks displays in Berkshire County this 4th of July, you can check them out at Stockbridge Bowl in Lenox following this Saturday's James Taylor concert at Tanglewood. You can also view fireworks displays this Saturday at Noel Field in North Adams around 9:15 pm. Williamstown will also have fireworks at the Taconic Golf Club at 9 pm.

Pittsfield traditionally has a 4th of July fireworks show, but this year's has been cancelled because the city was unable to secure a vendor with availability, according to a press release that was sent to us from the City of Pittsfield.
