Every Wednesday at 8:30 we're joined by John Perreault, Executive Director of the Berkshire Humane Society to discuss all the happenings at their Barker Road facility, plus talk about their Pet of the Week.

This week's Pet of the Week is Rye, a special needs senior dog, marking the last day of Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

Rye is a sweet 11-year-old all-American mix female. She prefers the finer things in life, including high-quality food, a warm bed, and a hearth to curl up next to. She loves meeting new people and melts the hearts of anyone she meets.

Rye has done well living with dogs in the past and meeting them at the shelter, but prefers low-key friends like herself. Rye does have allergies which will require a daily dose of Apoquel for the rest of her life. Apoquel will keep her healthy and happy, but is on the pricier side and will cost roughly $40 per month. Shelter staff are currently investigating a few other underlying health conditions and will hopefully have more answers soon.

To learn more about Rye or any of the other animals looking for their forever home at Berkshire Humane, give the shelter a call at 413-447-7878, extension 126.
