One thing that The Berkshires is known for is winter sports and activities. When you come to the area, there are great places to ski and snowboard. In fact, one of the ski resorts in Berkshire County is in the running to be the best in, not just The Berkshires, not just Massachusetts, but all of New England.

Boston.com has released a 32 resort bracket of the best ski areas in all of New England. Jiminy Peak in Hancock has made it in and to move forward in the contest, they need your vote.

While the website admits that the list is "subjective", the ski areas involved will only move on in the tournament-style format with the votes you cast. Jiminy Peak is going up against Sunday River in Maine -- which coincidentally is a place I skied at as a young kid growing up in the Boston area.

Let's face it, there are other ski resorts in the area and all of them deserve recognition. In a contest like this, regardless of which resort is in the running, it will be nice for Berkshire County to get some well-deserved shine in New England. Here's your chance to help them out.

To cast your vote, go to the link right here. Scroll down to the second grouping of eight ski resorts. If you put your cursor on the photos used for the ski areas, the matchup will pop up and it will let you know which area is which. When you see the Jiminy Peak vs. Sunday River matchup, simply click Jiminy Peak and you are good to go. Voting ends on Thursday, Dec. 19 so time is running out to make it happen.
