Center Street Sunoco to Reopen as EMS Automotive
A popular downtown gas station, shuttered for more than three years, will re-open next month as EMS Automotive LLC
New owner Evan Skubel announced that the former Center Street Sunoco in Pittsfield, located right across from The Berkshire Carousel, will re-open next month. Skubel, who also owns EMS Property Management and Landscaping, said via social media that the new business will be a full service Sunoco gas station along with a complete auto repair garage.
Tentative plans see the station and shop opening the first week of May. In the mean time, Skubel is looking to hire a team specializing in great customer service. Open positions include gas attendant, mechanic, and office assistant. Anyone interested in employment at EMS Automotive can reach out to Skubel via Facebook or can call or text (413) 358-7967.

The previous Center Street Sunoco station closed in 2018 and was one of the few remaining full service stations in the city.According to The Berkshire Eagle, the Center Street Sunoco was built in 1971 and was originally owned by Sun Oil Co. of Pennsylvania, which at one point in the 1970s operated 12 Sunoco stations in the Berkshires. In 1977, Sun Oil Co. sold all of its county stations except for Center Street Sunoco. The station added a towing service in 1980.
