If you have had the opportunity to drive during Wednesday's winter storm, you have noticed that despite the incredibly hard work the crews have been putting in, it is pretty sloppy out there.

With more snow expected, along with a mix of sleet and freezing rain to accompany it, the City of Pittsfield has officially declared a snow emergency. In addition, an on-street parking ban that will remain in effect until 7 a.m. on Thursday morning.

"Vehicles parked on city streets must be removed to allow for plowing," City of Pittsfield officials said on Wednesday. "Parking restrictions for the McKay Street Garage are waived as both this garage and the first floor of the Columbus Avenue Garage are open and available for parking today.

"Please keep fire hydrants and sidewalks shoveled and accessible in case of emergencies."

Garbage pickup is still scheduled, although that may change. If it does, an announcement will be made.

Be careful on the roads everybody. If you don't have to go anywhere, stay home!
