The 9th annual "Cop On Top" fundraiser to benefit Special Olympic athletes of Massachusetts is happening Saturday Dec. 1 and Sunday Dec. 2 at Walmart on Hubbard Ave. in Pittsfield between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. both days.

Local law enforcement can be seen on the roof of Walmart for nearly 36 hours as Berkshire residents are encouraged to donate, as well as, check out bake sales, raffles and food.

This year's goal is $50,000. Last year, "Cop On Top", in combination with North Adams' Walmart fundraiser, (which is postponed this year), raised a total $58,000.

All funds raised goes toward LETR's (Law Enforcement Torch Run) Special Olympics to pay for equipment, clothing, and state fees.

Other local fundraisers for Special Olympics include the recent "Sweater Run" in Lee, which raised $10,500, according to officer Darren Derby of the Pittsfield Police Department, and the upcoming polar plunge on March 30 and 31.
