Drivers and Victim Named in Route 8 Crash
According to a release from the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office, a North Adams man died in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning.
Anthony Emard, 61, was pronounced dead on the scene on Route 8, near Farnams Road, in Cheshire. Two others were transported by County Ambulance to the Berkshire Medical Center with serious injuries.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:11 a.m. Sunday morning. The investigation is being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police, which preliminarily reports that a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 29-year-old Trever Field, of Adams, was traveling southbound behind a 1997 Ford Mustang, driven by 37-year-old Michael Taylor, of Adams. The driver of the Jeep initially moved into the northbound lane and then struck the rear bumper of the Mustang when maneuvering back into the southbound lane, causing it to spin out. Emard was northbound in a 2009 Hyundai Accent when one of the two vehicles struck the Hyundai, causing it to rollover.
The collision remains under investigation by troopers assigned to the State Police – Cheshire Barracks and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office. Troop B Headquarters, State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), Cheshire Fire Department, Pittsfield Fire Department, Lanesboro Police and Fire Departments, the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office all assisted on scene.
