Emmy Award Winner Billy Crystal Stops By Downtown Pittsfield Bar

The was a celebrity sighting of epic proportion in downtown Pittsfield over the weekend when Barrington Stage star and Emmy award winning actor Billy Crystal stopped by Methuselah Bar and Lounge.

Methuselah shared the photos to their social media accounts yesterday, showing Crystal posing with bartender Lauren Ferin.

In September via their website, Barrington Stage announced that the Emmy and Tony award-winning actor and comedian would take the stage from the world renowned theatre company to reprise his role of Mr. Saturday Night in a limited developmental run of the comedic musical adaptation of the movie by the same name.

Crystal starred and directed the 1992 film. The story centers around Buddy Young Jr. and chronicles the rise and fall of the fictional comedian. The original film marked Crystal's directorial debut. In addition, Crystal wrote the screenplay with Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel, writing partners for 30 years, who collaborated on films such as Splash, Parenthood, and City Slickers. Crystal, Ganz, and Mandel have written the book for the new musical.

The production opened this past weekend and shows continue tonight through Oct. 30. According to Playbill, the show was specially arranged for Barrington Stage Company by Warner Bros. Theatre Venture.
