The #1 Fast Food Ice Cream Has Over 30 Locations in MA

We recently shared that July is National Ice Cream Month. National Ice Cream Day was on July 19, and National Vanilla Ice Cream Day was on July 23. With July being one of the hottest months of the year, why not celebrate some creamy delights all month long?

While everybody has their favorite flavor and brand of ice cream, whether it comes from the store, a massive chain, or a locally owned business, ice cream is certainly a favorite delight for many, especially on a hot summer day, but what about ice cream from fast food chains?

We recently shared the top store brand of vanilla ice cream as tested and reported by  allrecipes.com. Now, we are heading back to the site to find out the top fast food ice cream. While I enjoy ice cream from McDonald's and Burger King, neither landed in the #1 spot, though both are on the list.

The author of the Allrecipes article who conducted the test shared her methodology of taste-testing fast food ice cream.

I visited a variety of fast food restaurants, ordering vanilla ice cream from each to keep the tests consistent. To avoid taste overload, I limited myself to no more than two stops per outing. Some places served soft serve, others frozen custard, but as long as it qualified as ice cream, it made the cut. While tasting the fast food ice cream, I focused on texture, looking for smooth, not icy or grainy, and judged the flavor based on balance, favoring rich, milky notes that weren’t overly sweet.

So which fast food ice cream grabbed the #1 spot? If you guessed Dairy Queen, you are correct. Airy, light, and robust with vanilla flavor were the reasons for Dairy Queen topping the list.
