Here’s Massachusetts’ Favorite Ice Cream Flavor for 2026, Do You Agree?

We're in the heart of the summer season, the dog days of summer, if you will. This is the time of year when it's hot and humid, and folks are looking for ways to stay cool. Whether it's a cold beverage, a dip in the pool, or hanging out by the AC, staying cool is imperative right now.

It's also the time of year when people are ramping up their ice cream treats. My fridge has been stocked with popsicles and cartons of ice cream over the past few weeks. Whether it's enjoying a cold treat at home or going to a local ice cream parlor, I'm a sucker for a creamy delight. Ice cream can be in a cone or dish; it doesn't matter to me.

I also like to explore various brands, whether it's the big-name brands or the store versions. Fun fact: many store versions are just as good as the big-name brands, including Great Value from Walmart and Favorite Day from Target. They both taste great and are of good quality. I suppose this is more of an opinion than a fact, but I digress.

Speaking of ice cream, Mental Floss released a study of each state's favorite ice cream flavor for this year. If you thought Massachusetts' favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate, vanilla, or cookies and cream, you would be incorrect. According to the results, the Bay State's favorite ice cream flavor is cookie dough. Connecticut's favorite is strawberry, which I found surprising. New York's favorite flavor is pistachio.
