Firefighters responded to 2-4 Cherry St. in Pittsfield around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening for a reported fire.

Deputy Chief Matt Noyes said that the fire started on the second floor, ended up in the walls, then came through the roof, according to iberkshires.com. He commended his crew for solid firefighting and a quick stop.

Although the property suffered water and smoke damage, it doesn't appear to be a total loss. The house is deemed uninhabitable at the moment, however.

It was said that the property is owned by Gary and Claudine Burchard.

The Berkshire Dream Center has offered support to the affected families.
