I remember in the summer of 2008 gas prices hit over $4.00 for the first time here in Massachusetts and super high crude oil prices were to blame, although most were blaming then-President George W. Bush.

Gassing up for a trip to New Hampshire in July of '08, it cost $72.00 to fill my 2006 Nissan Altima!

In January of 2009, right after Obama was inaugurated, however, gas had fallen to around $1.50 a gallon, but nobody was crediting the President. The Great Recession was to blame is why.

Well let's fast forward to October of 2021 and gas prices are at their highest level since 2014, and the phrase "Thanks, Joe Biden" is continuing to trend.

The Mobil on Benedict and Dalton in Pittsfield is currently showing regular gas at $3.33 a gallon.

IS PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN REALLY TO BLAME?

When gas prices rise it's usually due to increased demand and lack of supply.

OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) is responsible for 50% of the world's crude oil supply and their simply not making enough right now.

OPEC and its allies once again failed to pump enough oil to meet their output targets, exacerbating the supply deficit as the world recovers from the coronavirus pandemic. -worldoil.com
