Every Wednesday at 8:30 we're joined by John Perreault, Executive Director of the Berkshire Humane Society to discuss all the happenings at their Barker Road facility, plus talk about their Pet of the Week.

This week's Pet of the Week is Jellybean. This little piggy may be called Jellybean, but he looks more like a peanut butter cup don’t you think?

Jellybean is a 3-year-old male guinea pig who arrived at Berkshire Humane Society mid-August and would love an adopter who will provide him with love and TLC. He’s a bit shy right now, but with socialization and continual handling, he’ll make a fantastic addition to someone’s home.

Although guinea pigs do require daily care and cleaning, if kept up, it’s relatively easy. They make wonderful pets for those willing to take the time to spend with them.

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
