A household hazardous waste collection, organized by the City of Pittsfield, is planned for Pittsfield residents (proof of residency required) from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. As the Town of Dalton partnered with the city on this event, the collection is also open to Dalton residents (proof of residency required).

Residents may bring the household hazardous products to the City of Pittsfield Public Services Yard located at 232 West Housatonic St. Entrance for this collection is through the rear of the site at 81 Hawthorne Ave. The collection is free to residents and is not intended for commercial/business purposes.

The following items will not be accepted:

  • motor oil
  • fluorescent lamps
  • construction debris
  • latex paint
  • asbestos
  • gas or propane cylinders
  • smoke detectors
  • radioactive material
  • fire extinguishers
  • medications
  • medical waste and sharps
  • ammunition
  • alkaline batteries
  • electronics
  • PCBs
