Scientific studies yield mixed results on their efficacy with different pests. Different Methods for Eliminating Wasps
To keep wasps out of your mailbox, consider using peppermint oil. Mix peppermint oil with water and a small amount of dish soap in a spray bottle, then spray it around areas where wasps tend to gather. You can also soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place them near or inside the mailbox to create a deterrent scent.
