Gas prices have fluctuated over the years and some like to blame the President, but supply and demand is almost always the case.

SO, HOW DO WE SAVE MONEY ON GAS?

Well, you could find a local BJ's, Pittsfield has one. Costco has cheaper gas for its members as well. Plus, Big Y has a gas-saving program as well. There are options.

I am terrible at using these things though, as I am not a "coupon guy" by any means, but paying over $50.00 to fill up my SUV is getting to me as of late!

BUT, WHAT ABOUT THAT ECO BUTTON IN YOUR CAR?

If you have a new-ish vehicle, you most likely have one of these buttons on your dashboard somewhere.

BUT, MY ACCELERATION SUCKS WITH THAT BUTTON ON...

So, when I first got my SUV, I used to have the ECON button pushed in all the time, but gas prices weren't that high at the time, so I decided to turn it off.

With the latest pain at the pump; however, I have rediscovered the ECO MODE button!

DOES IT REALLY WORK AT SAVING YOU MONEY?

In reality, Eco Mode only boosts your fuel economy by around five percent. So, if you spend $200 at the pump every month, you can expect to save about $10 a month. -cartreatments.com

ECO MODE, HOWEVER, CAN RETRAIN YOU TO DRIVE MORE FUEL EFFICIENTLY

What the hell does that mean? No, really, when you get used to driving with a bit less acceleration, you may realize you may have never needed it in the first place.

Finally, if you drive in a way that consumes excess fuel, you’ll likely see even more savings at the pump. That’s because Eco Mode can make you more aware of your driving habits, and eco-driving can lower your fuel consumption by as much as 24 percent! -cartreatments.com

With gas at $3.40, I will take a 24% savings! Plus, driving a little slower is probably a little safer for all.
