A combination of increased demand and lower oil inventories have caused gasoline prices in Massachusetts to rise 7 cents over the last week.

AAA Northeast reported Monday that the average gallon of self serving regular gas (87 Octane) was at $2.67. Massachusetts is still 9 cents less than average, but 35 cents higher than last year.

AAA is reporting that the lowest gallon of gas in the U.S. is around $2.53 and the highest $2.99. Diesel's average is around $3.13 a gallon, and oil is currently trading around $70 a barrel.

Let's not forget the summer of 2008, when an average gallon of regular gas was around $4.10, and rumored to rise to around $5.00 forever!
