I have some sad news to pass along to you, fellow Massachusetts residents. One of our favorite places to spend lots of money we don't have will soon be consolidating one of its facilities. Here's a hint: It involves candles. Lots and lots of candles.

Here's another hint: One of this company's main distribution centers is located in Western Massachusetts. Not close enough to be called "local", but just a short drive away.

I'm sure most of you know by now the company I'm referring to. YANKEE CANDLE. According to a new state filing, Newell Brands (the parent company) says they plan to consolidate Yankee Candle's distribution center in South Deerfield soon.

A Spokesperson from Newell Brands said the following>

The distribution facility at 27 Yankee Candle Way will remain open, but as part of the company's consolidation efforts, Yankee Candle is reducing the number of employees working there. This will affect approximately 100 employees.

The Spokesperson also mentioned that September 9 is the last day for employees who are exiting the business and for some operations specific to those roles. The company thanks employees for their service and dedication and is committed to supporting them with transition benefits.

Lastly, the spokesperson said the following regarding the consolidation efforts:

Importantly, there are no changes to the other Yankee Candle operations in Western Massachusetts. Yankee was founded in the area, and reports that they are committed to maintaining a strong local presence with their flagship Yankee Candle Village store and various research, manufacturing, distribution, and office facilities.
