A Massachusetts woman was fishing in the Bahamas over the weekend when she was bit by a shark.

According to a report by WBZ-TV in Boston, the 32-year-old woman was spearfishing off the coast of Treasure Bay when the shark initiated the attack. The report states that as the woman held a fish underwater, a blacktip shark bit her hand.

While the woman didn't suffer any life threatening injuries, one of her fingers was seriously injured and it is unclear, currently, whether the local woman will lose the finger or not. The woman, who was not identified, was airlifted to Fort Lauderdale before being transferred to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida where she had surgery.

I have never been face-to-face with a shark but I'm sure this woman wasn't expecting one to interrupt her fishing excursion.
