Former Miss Hall's School Teacher Indicted on Assault Charges

A 70-year-old Norfolk, Connecticut man has been indicted on charges tied to his time teaching at Miss Hall's School in Pittsfield more than 30 years ago, according to a press release by the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.

Matthew Johnson, of 31 State Line Hill Road, was indicted Thursday by a Berkshire County grand jury on one count of Assault with Intent to Rape and two counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Over the Age of 14. The indictment came down in Berkshire Superior Court.

Johnson taught science at Miss Hall's School from 1993 to 1994. Investigators say he was let go from the school before that school year ended. All three charges stem from his time working at the school.

No arraignment date has been set yet. When it happens, it'll take place in Berkshire Superior Court, and I'll update you as soon as I know more.

Former Head of School at Miss Hall's Arraigned

Jeannie Norris, former Head of School at Miss Hall’s School from 1996 to 2012, was arraigned on Monday 8/17 on one count of Reckless Endangerment of a Child. The charge arises out of conduct occurring during the Defendant’s tenure at Miss Hall’s School.

The Defendant and her legal counsel appeared on Zoom. The Defendant is released on personal recognizance and must notify probation of any change of address or phone number.

The next pretrial hearing date is set for November 18^th at Berkshire Superior Court.
