
Massachusetts Releases 250th Anniversary Scratch Ticket, Highest Pay-Out Percentage Ever
According to Masslottery.com, the Commonwealth's lottery broke records in 2019 hitting an all-time $5.509 billion in revenue, yielding a net profit of $1.104 billion. Between nine games (The Numbers Game, Keno, Jackpot Poker, All or Nothing, Mass Cash, Megabucks Doubler, Lucky for Life, Mega Millions, Powerball) and countless ever-changing scratch tickets, the Bay State's lottery is thriving.
Residents in the Bay State spent a whopping $951.92 per adult, which is more than any other state in the U.S. That's just over $600 more than the national average. Massachusetts does however have a higher-than-average return percentage with the average Massachusetts adult winning $701.50 annually.
Massachusetts Releases New $5 Instant Tickets for America's 250th
The Massachusetts State Lottery has launched a new $5 instant scratch ticket, “MA 250,” to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary and honor the Commonwealth’s revolutionary history. The limited-edition ticket officially went on sale at retailers statewide on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
According to a release from the State Lottery, the ticket features the largest payout percentage ever offered for a $5 Massachusetts Lottery game. Players can win instant cash prizes of $25, $50, and ng $250. Additionally, the ticket includes a special “1776 Bonus” play area where revealing a “1776” symbol awards an automatic $250 win.
Beyond instant wins, four second-chance drawings will award 600 prizes of $250, with non-winning tickets eligible for a final drawing where one of four finalists will win a $250,000 grand prize, and three others will win $10,000 each. To celebrate, the Lottery is hosting summer pop-up events at historic sites with free promotional tickets.
