Let's face it, Firefighters, and first responders in general, are awesome people. Anyone  who chooses to risk their lives to save others, I have the utmost respect for. When these same people go above and beyond their daily duties to help out the community even more, that's truly inspiring.

That's just what members of the Pittsfield Fire Department did.  In addition to ringing the bell for the Salvation Army at numerous locations over the weekend, the Fire Departments IAFF 2647 members donated and delivered presents in cooperation with the Department of Children and Families this past Friday. They wanted to make sure that children all off the city will get to enjoy a Merry Christmas regardless of their home life. The union shopped for over 25 children, making sure each child got a mix of clothes they needed as well as toy. Socials workers for DCF will make sure they get to each family before the holiday.

As if the daily sacrifices these guys make day in and day out isn't enough, choosing to contribute time and money to local youth in need, is an example we could all learn from. Bravo PFD!
