On Thursday at approximately 10:31am the Pittsfield Police Department received a 911 call from a woman who reported she had been held against her will and assaulted by Dominic Simonetta while at his 80 Onota Street residence.

The woman reported that she was able to escape the home by jumping out of a second story window.  Based on the woman’s statements officers immediately responded to 80 Onota Street and attempted to make contact with the resident, 46 year old Dominic Simonetta. After unsuccessfully making contact with Simonetta the officers set up a perimeter around the home.

Based on the initial statements made by the woman, and that Simonetta’s home contained numerous non-firearm related weapons, the decision was made to contact supervisors in charge of the Berkshire County Special Response Team (BCSRT).  Ultimately, members of the BCSRT responded and took over control of the scene. Due to the nature of the incident and the impact it was having on the neighborhood, several area schools (Conte, Hillcrest Academy, and Crosby) were notified.

A BCSRT negotiator attempted to make contact with Simonetta numerous times but was unsuccessful. While the BCSRT continued to secure the scene Officer Shaun Reagan, the investigating officer, applied for an arrest warrant in Pittsfield District Court. A warrant, charging Simonetta with Assault on Family / Household Member, Kidnapping, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Witness Intimidation, and Threat to Commit Crime (2 counts), was issued.

At approximately 2:15pm members of the BCSRT placed Simonetta under arrest without incident after entering his residence in order to serve the arrest warrant.  Simonetta was transported to the Pittsfield Police Department for booking.  He was then transported to the Berkshire County House of Correction where he is being held on $50,000 bail. Simonetta will be arraigned in Pittsfield District Court tomorrow morning.
