Pittsfield Man Charged In July 4 Murder

J.C. Chadwell, 39, of Seymour St., has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting which occurred in the area of Durant Park on July 4.

Paul L. Henry, also 39, was found shot to death around 11pm on the night of July 4, 2017. After a party in the park that night, some neighbors reported hearing gunshots, but mistook them for fireworks.

According to witnesses who spoke with police, Henry was seen arguing with another man shortly before the shooting. It is unclear whether that other man was Chadwell.

Chadwell was arranged Monday morning in Berkshire District Court on one single count of murder; he is due back in court on Mar. 14. He is currently being held without the right to bail at the Berkshire County House of Correction.
